Ambanad Hills, Kollam, Kerala

Ambanad Hills (Malayalam: അമ്പനാട് ഹില്‍സ്) or Ambanad is a hill station in Kollam district  of Kerala state, India. This is one among the few tea plantation areas in Kollam district. Ambanad Hills is in Aryankavu panchayath, about 12 km away from Kazhuthurutty.

The drive to the top itself is superb. You wont find too many tourists and one can enjoy the natural surroundings and the tea and rubber estates without the usual tourist disturbance. There is a small fee to enter the estate campus. It was Rs. 100 per head when I went there along with my wife. You might have to carry your own food for the day as there is no reliable canteen there. But the sceneries and pictures you can take are breathtaking.  The best time to visit is most probably during the monsoons when the rains spring up a lot of surprises as you can see in the photos below. We loved the place and would recommend it for all nature lovers and landscape photographers. The estate also has accomodation at one of their bungalows. You must contact the manager for more details.
